Game Updates
The James Monroe (WV) vs Greenbrier West (WV) game was cancelled due to COVID. The Princeton (WV) vs Oak Hill (WV) games was postponed till Monday, Sept. 14. Bluefield was open Friday night. The Princeton vs Oak Hill game may be played Monday night at 7 pm at Oak Hill HS. It’s become very difficult to find out who’s playing, what game is cancelled etc, etc. So RodneySportsNow will be cutting back on trying to update the three West Va. High School teams.
Cavaliers name new coach
The Carroll Co. Cavaliers have named Anthony Barnes as the new boy’s basketball coach. Barnes had been the eighth-grade coach for the last couple of years. He replaces Tee Jackson as the boys’ coach at Carroll Co. High School. Coach Jackson had been with the Cavaliers for the last nine years. Coach Jackson said, ” It was just time to step down. I got a couple of kids and work is keeping me busy. I’m enjoying more time with my family.”

Giles wins appeal
The Giles High School Spartans won their appeal to the VHSL 5-0. Starting the 2021-22 season the Spartans will be in Class 1 Region C and be placed into the Mountain Empire District. They were originally turned down by 15-7 votes back in summer but appealed the decision.
VHSL postpones meeting
The Virginia High School League has postponed their September 3 meeting. The meeting is now scheduled for Thursday, September 17. They are scheduled to vote on the sports calendar for school year 20-21.
