High School football results Nov. 28-29

West Va. High School Football State Semi-finals came to an end this past weekend. The coronavirus surge will prevent state championship games next weekend.

Class AAA – South Charleston wins the title. Cabell-Midland, Bridgeport, and Musselman all had to forfeit

Class AA- Fairmont Senior beat Bluefield 21-19. That win means Fairmont Senior is state champs. Robert C. Byrd vs Oak Glen game was canceled.

Class A – St. Mary’s is the state champs. St. Mary’s defeated Pendleton Co. 21-7. Ritchie Co.had to cancel.

West Va. did play fall football and now us sports fans wait to see if the Commonwealth of Virginia will have high school football come late February!

 

 

Harman Classic Canceled

The Chance Harman Basketball Classic has been canceled due to the coronavirus. The Classic is held at Floyd Co. High School at the first of each new year. Floyd Co. head Coach Brian Harman had to cancel the classic with the Governor of Virginia’s new regulations.

More Schools to pass on Winter Sports

City of Williamsburg and James City schools will not have Winter Sports. No Winter sports will affect nine elementary, four middle, and three high schools. The high schools consist of; Lafayette, Jamestown, and Warhill.. That brings to 12 high schools in Virginia to NOT playing Winter Sports.

It has begun

Richmond and Buckingham Co Public Schools have canceled all Winter Sports. More will probably follow! So far nine high schools will not play or participate in Winter Sports. Those schools being; Armstrong, Huguenot, George Wythe-Richmond, Thomas Jefferson-Richmond, John Marshall, Randolph Henry, Prince Edward, Bluestone, and Lunenburg.

Three private schools have now canceled winter sports in and around the New River Valley. Those being Roanoke Catholic, Dayspring Christian, and Faith Christian. That’s up to 12 schools with NO Winter Sports in Virginia.

Cormany commits

Radford High School basketball guard Cam Cormany has committed to the Naval Academy for basketball. Cormany, a 6-1 senior hit 112 3-pointers and helped lead the Bobcats to a 23-4 record last year. He plays for his dad, Radford head coach Rick Cormany.
