Fort Chiswell has new football coach

RodneySportsNow has learned that Robert “Spider” Thompson has been named as the new head football coach at Fort Chiswell High School. Thompson has been coaching at Emory & Henry the last three years. He use to teach and coach at Fort Chiswell back in the 90’s and early 2000’s. He had a record of 11-29 in his four years as Fort Chiswell head coach in 1999-2002.

Some changes in Classifications by VHSL

A couple of local schools will be playing in different classifications . One school will be playing in a different district this fall. The two schools are Giles and Fort Chiswell. Both were Class 2 Region C schools and now are in Class 1 Region C. Giles also, will now be playing in the Mountain Empire District , not the Three Rivers District. Class 1 Region C schools consist of; Galax, George Wythe, Grayson Co., Narrows, Bath Co., Covington, Bland Co., Craig Co., Auburn, Parry McCluer, Eastern Montgomery,Highland Co. as well as the new schools of Giles and Fort Chiswell.

Giles moves to the Mountain Empire District that consists of, Auburn, Galax, Geo. Wythe, Bland Co., Grayson Co.,Fort Chiswell, and Giles.

One other change happens in the Southwest District in that Lebanon has moved down to Class 1 Region D and have moved to the Hogoheegee District. They were in Class 2 Region D.

High school football practice is fast approaching with some schools starting on Thursday, July 29- Saturday,July 31. Some other schools will start on Monday August 2. Friday night lights are almost upon us!

RodneySportsNow will be posting some scrimmages and benefit games schedules as we get them. Most scrimmages will be starting Friday, August 13 or Saturday August 14. Benefit games more than likely will be Thursday, August 19 and or Friday, August 20. Please stay tuned…

 

Castlewood hires coach

Castlewood High School has hired Patrick Wade as their new boy’s basketball coach. He had been an assistant at Richlands for the last six years. He’s also been at Council High School where he graduated from. Info via Tim Hayes

Auburn hires new coach

Auburn High School has hired David Seabaugh as their new head football coach. He is from Mississippi and played at Mississippi St. He has coached at Litchfield High School, Starkville, and Kemper Co.He played three sports in his high school days at Litchfield.

Football – Coaching Update

RodneySportsNow has learned that Fort Chiswell High School is now accepting applications for their head football coaching job. Auburn High School is on the verge of announcing their new head football coach. Official football practice starts July 31. Stay tuned !!
