Bobcats, Williamson halts Giles

Radford Bobcats baseball team traveled to Giles and came away with a 7-3 victory. Their starting pitcher Reese Williamson not only got the pitching win but helped himself at the plate. Williamson threw a complete game five hitter. He struck out 15 Spartans and walked no one. At the plate he hit a three run home run to help his own cause. Trace Shepherd, Matt Rehak and Michael Wheeler each had a hit. Taylor Newcome scored two runs. Radford head coach Greg Ridpath said,” We got off to a bad start and I got onto them some. They answered the challenge. This was a big win for us. ” Coach then added,” What a great job Reese (Williamson) did. He not only pitched real well after the first inning but he helped us at the plate as well.”

Giles starting pitcher Austin Pennington took the loss as he went 3.1 innings.He gave up all seven runs and walked six. He went two for three and scored a run for the Spartans, as well.
