Cougars halt losing streak

The Pulaski Co. Cougars traveled to Daleville to take on Lord Botetourt. They came away with a heart-stopping win 6-5, over the Cavaliers. Up 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh they saw Lord Botetourt score three times to pull within one, 6-5. With one out and a runner on first, Jared Atrnholt would make an out but Colston Powers would single to put the tying run on second. Cougar relief pitcher Ethan Gallimore would entice Dylan Fralin to ground out to end the contest.

Chris Remington had two hits and two RBI for the Cougars. Starting pitcher Punky Foster would go five innings scattering five hits and striking out six for the win. At the plate, he had two hits, scored one and knock in one. Micah Minnick had two hits as well as Ethan Gallimore. Will Jarrells and Logan Burchett each had an RBI.

The Cavaliers got two hits from Meade Mayo as he knocked in two. Jay DeWeese had two RBI with a triple. Powers had two hits and Nick Lancaster was the losing pitcher.

The Cougars (2-6) halted a five-game losing streak with the victory. ” We were focused and came ready to play today, ” said a happy Cougar head coach Greg Allen. ” We limited our mistakes and Punky ( Foster) really competed his tail off. Coach Chrisley called a heck of a game for us. ” He then added, ” It was great to see our kids excited and enjoy the win.”

Pulaski Co. will be back in action Tuesday as they host the Salem Spartans. Game time is slated for 5:00 pm.
