Senior hurler Bryson Booher went all five innings for Fort Chiswell as he struck out six and gave up just one earned run on five hits. Booher also scored twice as he improved to 3-0 and the Pioneers are now 4-0.

Booger Owens led George Wythe as he hit a home run to right center in the first and single in the third. Lead off hitter Walker Navers scored the only other Maroon run in third on a single by Avery Goins. Brandon Collins was the starter and loser on the mound. He lasted 2 and 2/3 innings giving up seven runs and walked four.

Lucas Edmonds and Jarred Tuck both knocked in three runs apiece for the Pioneers. Chance Davis had two hits two RBIs.

The Maroons scored first on an Owens home run with two outs in the top the first. They then went up 2-0 in their half of the third with Goins knocking in Navers.

Fort Chiswell in the bottom of the third sent 13 batters to the plate as they scored seven. Tuck knocked in two of those. They scored five of those runs with two outs. They followed that up with six more runs in bottom of the fourth as they sent 10 batters to the plate with Edmonds doubling in two. Tuck would single in another run, as did Tanner Bailey and Ben Porter.

“We started slowly again today,” said Pioneer head coach Derrick Jackson. “Bryson (Booher) pitched well enough for us today. I thought Jarred Tuck’s single that drove in two runs in the third with two outs was a big hit for us. Lucas Edmonds stepped up also, as did Chance Davis,” said Coach Jackson.

The Pioneers will be back in action next Thursday, April 7, as they travel to Rural Retreat. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm.
