Bobcats’ junior point guard Quinton Morton-Robertson was his usual self in handling the ball and scoring. He had a game high 30 points as he hit four three’s to lead them in the win. Kam Edwards knocked down four three-pointers and had 14 points.

Martinsville got 12 points from T J Pettway. He got help from Nigel Davis and Jaheim Niblett as they both produced eight points apiece.

Radford (27-0) knocked down six three’s in the opening quarter as Martinsville was in their usual zone defense. The Cats went up 23-12 after the first quarter and took a 32-23 advantage into intermission.

The second half saw the Bobcats came out in a zone of their own. The Bulldogs seemed as surprised as the crowd at seeing them in a zone.

Cam Cormany – looking to throw ball in bounds

“We got a lead and we wanted to see if they could make some jump shots,” said Radford head coach Rick Cormany. “They (Martinsville) are a hard team to get 3s against because they spread out in that zone and makes it tough. When you got a point guard who can get penetration and then find people where they need the ball, then next thing you know, they’re trying to stop the shots on the side. It just opens things up.”

Morton-Robertson had help in knocking down three’s. He and Edwards both had four each and Cam Cormany hit two. Radford was also prolific from the free throw line as they hit 14 of 18 from the charity stripe. Yes, Morton-Robertson led them there as well, hitting eight of nine.

Radford will now get to stay in the area as they will take on Gate City either Friday or Saturday night at a site and time to be determined. Radford University and Pulaski Co. High

School were two of the sites as of this writing. Gate City was the upset victim against Graham (59-75) as they will have to travel to the Radford area.
