The Radford Bobcats got four touchdowns from PJ Prioleau and quarterback Zane Rupe rushed for one as they romped over the Giles Spartans 38-0. Prioleau scored on one- yard,five-yard and four-yard runs. He also took the opening second-half kickoff and returned it 80 yards for his fourth touchdown. Zane Rupe ran off tackle on a 38-yard jaunt for the other touchdown. Placekicker Connor Lytton hit 43- yard field goal to end the first half and he also hit five-point afters. The Bobcat defense held the vaunted Giles single wing to just 133 total rushing yards on 52 carries.
Giles ( 3-3, 1-1) had but eight first downs for the game. They had only 39 yards of offense the first half. Dominic Collini led the Spartans with 43 yards on 11 rushes. Logan Greenway carried the ball 15 times for just 28 yards.
Radford (5-1, 2-0) won their fourth straight game. Prioleau has 12 rushes for 66 yards. He caught one pass for nine yards, to go with his 80 -yard kickoff return. Justice Marshall rushed four times for 33 yards and Rupe’s only carry was good for 38 yards. ” I thought we executed well on offense and our defense played extremely well,” said Bobcat head coach Matthew Saunders. ” This is the first time since 2010 we have defeated them. They are very well coached and it feels good to beat them.” Coach then added,” We are getting better and our defensive coaches- Pierson Prioleau. Josh Woods and Roger Hollins has our defense playing very physical.” The ballgame was originally scheduled to be at Radford, but a light post had become a safety issue and this game was moved to Salem Stadium. The Bobcats made themselves right at home on this night. They are scheduled to host Floyd Co. next Friday. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 pm.
