Pulaski Co. boys basketball chaos defeats Floyd Co.

Dublin… Pulaski Co. boys basketball is under new management. The Cougars first action under new head coach Tyler Cannoy got off to a slow start but really picked up after the first three mins in a scrimmage held at the Cougar Den for an 84-70 win over Floyd Co. Buffaloes.

Hayden Gray knocked down five three’s en route to scoring 31 points. He had help from J J Gulley with 19 points and Chris Hay chipped in with 15. The Cougars pressed full court, double-teamed the ball all over the court. The chaos didn’t kick in until the Buffaloes went up 10-0. The Gray knocked down a couple of three-point bombs and the excitement, energy really picked up. ” Our defense picked up thereafter Gray (Hayden) hit those two long shots to get us going, ” said Coach Cannoy. ” We only have seven varsity kids due to football still playing. I let five or six kids off the junior varsity to come to play here tonight. It’s a starting point for us and I’m pleased with the effort tonight,” said Cannoy. Coach then added,”We got to play defense better without fouling and we got a lot more offense to put in.”

The Cougar junior varsity also won by beating the baby Buffaloes 47-40. The Cougars are coached by former Cougar Austin Twine. The young Cougars were led by 18 points coming from Peyton McDaniel. Kyle O’Neal scored 10,and Marcus Calloway five points.
