The Giles vs Marion 2 A West volleyball match has moved to Pulaski Co High School. The championship match will get under way at 6 pm tomorrow- Saturday night.

Radford defeated Chilhowie three sets to one to win the West 1A Championship. It was a come from behind victory for the Cats. Chilhowie won the opening set 21-25. Radford then won 25-18, 25-23 and took the third set 25-19 to take the title. Both teams advances to next weeks state playoffs. The Bobcats will host Group 1 A East runner-up while Chilhowie will travel to East champions , Mathews and or Rappahannock Co.

In Group 2A Marion beat James River 25-20, 25-14, 15-25 and 25-15 to advance to the championship Saturday night versus Giles to be played at Lebanon High School, supposedly . Giles won a hard fought five set victory over Lee High by the scores of 25-17, 20-25, 25-21, 23-25 and 15-10. Looking like Marion will take on either Buffalo Gap or R E Lee- Staunton next week.

Radford Bobcats volleyball team led by Emma Minnick, Gabby Perez and Charli Dietz defeated Eastside 3 sets to one in Group 1A West semifinals. Radford won the opening set 25-18 and then Eastside evened the match with a 14-25 win. Radford then won the third set with a 25-23 hard fought victory and finshed the match off with a 25-18 win. In the other match Chilhowie beat Rye Cove in five sets, 18-25, 25-17,25-18, 23-25 and 15-5.

Radford and Chilhowie will play tonight ( Thursday) for the Group 1A West championship at Virginia High. Match will start at 7. Both teams will advance to state tournament next week.

The defending state champs Group 1A ,advanced to Wednesday nights West Region semfinals with their win over George Wythe . The Bobcats are now 17-8 and will face Eastside at Virginia High. In other volleyball action Chilhowie beat Auburn 25-22, 25-17 and 25-13. The win moves Chilhowie to Wednesday to take on Rye Cove. Giles and Marion also advanced in 2A. Giles defeated Appomattox in four sets and Marion beat Gate City 25-17, 25-22 and 25-20.

The Radford Bobcats defeated Auburn tonight to win the Conference 45 volleyball tournament 3-1. Radford playing Auburn at the Eagles home gym won the opening set 25-22. Auburn would then tie the match 1all winning the second set 25-20.

The Cats then would win the third set 25-16 and took the championship by winning the fourth set 25-14. Both teams will advance to next weeks opening round of the playoffs.
