NRV Tigers win opener, lose next two

The NRV Tigers traveled to Morgantown ,West Virginia and beat Va. Revo 7-2 Friday night. Caleb Wetzel went the last three innings to pick up the win. Wyatt Hage went 3 for 4 as he knocked in one run and scored a run. Wetzel not only got the win but he was 3 for 3 at the plate and scored two runs, Patrick Kepler finished 2 for 4 at the plate as he scored twice. Trey Hodson had an rbi and went 2 for 3. Conner Lewis had two RBI’s for the Tigers.

On Saturday the Tigers played a red hot US Elite 2019 National Team and were on the short end of a 10-1 loss. Caleb Franklin had the only RBI. The Tigers were held to just four hits with, Franklin, Austin Atkins ,Patrick Kepler and Pulaski Co. Cougar Bailey Ayers getting them. Kepler was tagged with the loss as he went 3 innings gave up five runs, four hits, walked two, hit two and struck out three. The other Saturday game saw the Tigers drop a 9-3 decision to the Maryland Bombers. The Tigers were held to just two hits and committed three big errors that led to six unearned runs. Trey Hodson allowed three hits and six runs all of which were unearned as he took the loss. Austin Atkins was 1 for 2 at the plate with a run knocked in. Hodson had the other RBI in the defeat. Jacob Stuart was 1 for 1 with a double and scored a run. Tristan Shrewsbury and Patrick Kepler scored the other Tiger runs. NRV Tiger coach Todd Davis said, ” We didn’t play well at all . The Elite team was real good but we just beat ourselves versus the Maryland team.” New River will now play Sunday at 4:00 pm against the Beaver Valley National Team at WVU.
