Rural Retreat…Before the crowd could even sit down, Fort Chiswell’s Anthony Morris took the kickoff back 75 yards scoring a touchdown. This led them to a 46-7 route of county rival Rural Retreat. Rural Retreat fumbled on their first possession. Fort’s Billy Shrewsberry scooped up the ball and ran in from 11 yards out. Tyler Dunford’s conversion kick made it 13-0. Tyler Jakubiak would rumble in from 25 yards out to up the lead to 19-0 as the two-point conversion run failed.

On the ensuing kickoff, Rural Retreat’s Jonathan Tuell would go 80 yards for their only score of the game ending the first quarter 19-7. The only score in the second quarter was by Jakubiak on a one-yard run to take a commanding 26-7 lead into intermission.

Jakubiak would score on 21 and 44 yard runs in the third quarter. Tanner Bailey then would make a 27-yard touchdown run bringing the score to 46-7 going into the fourth quarter. The Pioneers would then clear the bench as everyone played who was dressed.

“I’m pleased with the way we performed and executed tonight, said Fort Chiswell head coach Todd Tiller. He then added, “Offensively and defensively we did a lot of good things. Our defense only gave up one first down in the first three quarters of play, and that was by a penalty against us. We have things to clean up, but I’m glad everybody got to play tonight.”
