Pulaski Co. wins thriller

Playing for the first time in two weeks the Cougar boys basketball team defeated the Blacksburg Bruins 63-62 in overtime. The Cougars (7-2) were led by Isaac Poe with 20 points ,as he hit four big free throws in the overtime period. CC Grubb also hit a couple free throws in ot and scored 18. Sean Spencer contributed nine points and stroked a big three in the extra period.

Blacksburg has tied the game with just three seconds to go in regulation on a short jumper by Antonio Houston at 54. He finshed with 10 points Freshman Tiquest Terry just up from the junior varsity scored 20 to lead the Bruins. Fellow freshman Grant Johnston tossed in 14.

” The Bruins guard ( Terry) kept breaking us down on defense. We couldn’t stay in front of him, ” said Cougar head coach Andrew Hart. “Braeden Blevins made some big plays for us as did Sean Spencer.” Coach Hart then added,” Poe stepped up to foul line and stroked the big foul shots for us.”

The Cougar junior varsity beat the bruins 48-32 as Kellen dalton scored 12 as he stroked three-three’s. Austin Reinhart also scored 12. The Bruins were led by Nelson Etuk with 13.

The Cougars get right back into action Wednesday night as the host the Galax Maroon Tide. JV action starts at 5:30.
