Bobcats blank Alleghany

The Radford Bobcats got a complete game, five-hit shutout from freshman southpaw Daniel Hale to lead them to a 6-0 victory over Alleghany. Jon Woods, Nate Wesley, and Connor Phillips and Addison Lester had two hits apiece for Radford. Wesley, Woods, Phillips each scored and run and had an RBI. Alex Kanipe, Justice Marshall also had an RBI and scored a run each to back Hale’s pitching performance. Logan King and Caleb Sparks had the other hits for The Bobcats.

Alleghany got two hits from Noah Smith as Cooper Rice, Zac Wolfe and Ethyn Kimberlin had a hit each. Colby Skidmore went the first four innings for the Mountaineers and was tagged with the loss. He gave up five runs, seven hits. He walked four and struck out four.

Hale went all seven innings as he struck out six and walked nobody. Radford saw their record improve to 3-15. ” Daniel (Hale) pitched a great game for us,” said Bobcat head coach Drew Cox. ” He had his control today and his curve was working. This was a good team effort with six different kids scoring. We up 1-0 there in the bottom of third and we got back -to- back triples, scored twice and that was big for us.”

Radford will host Glenvar tomorrow ( Friday) in their last regular season game, They will play in the region next week at a team, date, and time to be announced.
