Bobcats claw the Green Wave

Playing for the first time in almost two weeks Radford came out sluggish but then erupted for 12 runs in the fourth inning to slaughter rule the Narrows Green Wave 16-6 in five innings. Matt Rehak, Ty Hamblin , Taylor Newcome, Reese Williamson and Conner Phillips all had two hits each. Rehak knocked in three runs and scored one run. Newcome scored three runs and knocked in two and Williamson scored three times. Chance Morris got the win in relief as he improved to 2-0 and Radford moved to 7-4-1 on the year. Newcome started on the mound for the Cats but his wildness in the second inning helped Narrows cross the plate five times to go up 5-2.

Narrows was held to just two hits in the loss , with Landon Patteson and Hunter Orey got their only hits. Both of them scored a run each and Orey knocked in two. Isaac Taylor went four innings giving up 11 earned runs and 12 hits.

Radford head coach Greg Ridpath said,” We came out rusty today. First time we have played in two weeks and I had a little discussion with the players before we scored 12 times in the top of the fourth. I thought Morris ( Chance ) pitched real well for us in relief.” Radford will be back in action Thursday ( today) hosting Giles. First pitch is slated for 4:30 pm at Radford Field.
