The Radford Bobcats scored with 3:11 left in the game and then got a big defensive stop on their 15 yard line with just 38 seconds left to defeat the Auburn Eagles 20-14. Quarterback Marcus Finley hit Mitch White ona 14 yard pass to put the Bobcats up 20-14 and the linebacker Dale Stanley intercepted a Justin Light pass at the Cat 15 yard line to preserve the victory. Radford (6-2) was led by senior quarterback Marcus Finley as he rushed for two scores and passed for another. He carried the ball 13 times for 110 yards and threw for 191. He completed 11 of 20 passes.

Auburn was led by running back Jeremy Nelson who scored on runs of one and five yards. He carried the ball 34 times for 154 hard earned yards.Cameron Chestnut had 23 yards on 11 rushes.

Auburn scored first on a five yard run by Nelson i with 1:58 showing in the first quarter. Radford then tied it at seven all on a Finley 20 yard run with just 44 seconds before intermission.Radford would go up for the first time with 9:16 left in the game and he rammed in from one yard out on fourth down. Auburn would answer with a Nelson one yard run with 5:20 remaining. Radford would then answer as Finley hit Mitch White with a 14 yard pass in the back of the endzone with 3:11 left.

Auburn would march down the field and on third down ,Justin Light dropped back and Radford’s Dale Stanley would pick the pass off at the Radford 15 with just 38.3 seconds to go in the game.

Radford head coach Matthew Saunders said,” we fought hard tonight as did Auburn. Coach Turner had them ready and my hats off to them. I thought our defense played lights out tonight. This one was hard earned. Auburn did a heck of a job.” Coach then added,” Monday and Tuesday of this week we had a lot of kids hurt. We didn’t get a lot of practice time in. We battle and got the win.”

Radford is now 6-2 ,while Auburn dropped to 5-3. Radford will now face the state defending champions Glenvar Highlanders at Norman G.Lineberg Field this Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
