Cougars defeated by Eagles

Pulaski Co. Cougar boys had to go play at George Washington-Danville to face the 22-1 Eagles. The Eagles athletic ability was too much for the Cougars as they defeated the visiting Cougars 86-57.

The Eagles had over 30 offensive rebounds as they relentlessly attacked the glass. GW- got 24 points from Shunta Wilson and 16 from Kapone Barley in the win.

Pulaski Co. got 12 points from Hayden Gray, as he hit four three’s. Benjamin Poe scored 11 and A J McCloud chipped in with 10. The Cougars took an early 10-9 lead but the Eagles scored the last seven points to take a 16-10 lead after the opening quarter. They stretched that out to 37-24 at intermission. The Eagles started the third quarter with a 17-4 run to put the game out of reach, in Class 4 Region D first-round playoff.

” We played hard but GW- really attacked the glass on the offensive end, said Cougar head coach Andrew Hart. ” It’s hard to prepare for a team that’s as athletic as they are. I’m so proud of our four seniors this season. They have done everything that we have asked of them.”

The Cougars were just outmanned and the Eagles had just too much athletic ability for the Cougars. The Cougars finished their season at 8-16.
