Cougars get back into win column

Coming off their first loss of the season 51-50 the Pulaski Co. Cougars finally got to play their first home game of the season . The wait was worth it as they defeated the Carroll Co. Cavaliers 57-46. CC Grubb lead the Cougars with 20 points and Kade Akers pitched in with 11. Senior point guard Logan Roberston chipped in with eight.

Carroll Co. got a team and game high 22 points from Adam Horton and Weston Burcham finished with 10. The Cougars led the entire game as they were up 16-13 after one quarter and 31-27 at halftime. They then outscored the Cavs 17-9 in the third as Grubb scored seven of those points. The Cougars are now 4-1 on the season , ” We have had hard time scoring ,” said Cougar head coach Andrew Hart. ” Defensively we have been fairly consistent in the first five games. Tonight I thought Carroll Co.’s zone bother us. ”

The Cougar junior varsity ran their record to 4-0 as the demolished the Cavs 65-22. Hayden Gray pumped in 21 points. Dillon Porter had 10 and David Hunley game off the bench to toss in eight. The Cavs were led by Austin Beamer’s seven points.

The Cougars will be back on the road as they go to Christiansburg Tuesday to play the Blue Demons. Junior varsity tips at 5:30 and the varsity around 7:00 pm.
