Cougars lose in district semi-finals

Pulaski Co. boys lost to regular-season champion Patrick Henry Patriots 72-53 in the River Ridge District Tournament semi-finals. The game was held at Hidden Valley High School in the first of two semi-final games. The second game saw Cave Spring hit a last-second shot to beat Salem 68-66.

” We seemed to be sleepwalking the first half,” said Cougar Head Coach Tyler Cannoy. The second quarter was the Cougar’s downfall as they got outscored 20-6. The Cougars had more turnovers in the second period eight to points scored, six. Coach Cannoy remarked, ” Hats off to Patrick Henry. They are well-coached and have a lot of athletes that are very good. There is a reason why they went undefeated in the regular season. They have the total package, quick, strong, shoot well and, attack the glass.”

Pulaski Co. will now play Halifax Co. in Class 4 Region D playoffs. That game is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 21 at 7:00 pm at Halifax Co. High School.
