Cougars lose to Bruins

Pulaski Co. hit the road as they traveled to Blacksburg and came out on the short end of a 74-62 loss to the Bruins. The game featured 51 fouls, 62 foul shots, and six technicals. The game in the game half became very physical, rough and a lot of jawing. The officials at times seemed to not help matters as the game almost got out of hand.

Leading 33-27 at intermission the Bruins started the third quarter off with a 10-0 run and outscored the Cougars 15-2 in the first four minutes of the quarter.

Pulaski Co. ( 2-4, 0-4) would cut the margin to 12 three times but couldn’t get it any closer than that. ” We got a lot of effort and fight tonight, said Cougar head coach Andrew Hart. We committed 27 turnovers and you not going to win playing like that. We have some guys that stepped up but we played the game short-handed and then we got into foul trouble.”

The Cougar got 25 points from Dillon Porter. Benjamin Poe and Justin Roberson both tallied nine points each. The Bruins got a game-high 26 points from Cole Epperley. Drew Babcock tossed in 13 and Grant Johnston finished with 11.

The Cougar junior varsity improved to 4-2 with a 48-40 win over the baby Bruins. David Hunley had 12 points, Clay Phillips 10. Ethan Gallimore had eight, Bradley Hudson six points and well as Peyton McDaniel. The Bruins got eight points from Joe Neurater and six from Calvin Williams.
