Graham wins State Championship

Graham behind the arm and legs of Purdue commit quarterback Cameron Allen defeated Goochland 31-9 to win the state Class 2 title. Allen accounted for 330 of Graham’s 342 total offense. He passed for 157 and ran for 173. He scored on runs of 10 and 37 yards. He also threw two touchdowns. Devin Lester caught a 23 yard and Tre Booker caught a 16-yard touchdown pass.

Goochland ( 14-1) was held to 125 total yards with all but 22 of those on the ground. Conner Popielarz had 13 rushes for 41 yards. Qb C J Towles had 14 carries for nine yards.

Graham got on the scoreboard first as Allen scored off tackle from 10 yards out to go up 7-0 with 7:04 remaining in the opening quarter.

The second quarter saw Goochland get a 26-yard field goal from Jacob Hayward.

Graham( 14-1) would answer with a Dales 30-yard field goal of their own. They would then score a touchdown on their next possession as Devin Lester caught a 23- yard pass to go up 17-3 with just 17 seconds before intermission. They would score again in the third quarter as Booker caught a 16-yard pass from Allen with 4:42 left.

Goochland would strike back with 31 seconds left in the quarter, when Quincy Snead ran in from 16 yards out to put the score at 24-9 after three.

Graham would put the gamer away when Allen took of on a quarterback run as he zig-zagged his way in from 37 yards out and Joey Dales kick made it 31-9.
