Regular Season coming down to the wire

The high school sports season is coming to an end. There’s just two weeks left in most of the spring sports regular season’s. I mainly cover baseball and therefore will make some observations in that area. The Pulaski Co. Cougars ( 9-6-1) have four games remaining, two home ,two away. They will go as far as their pitchers will carry them. They are more than likely going to finish third in Conference 24 play and will host a first round game . Dylan Danner, Hunter Shrewsbury and Thomas Anderson need to perform on the mound . Andrew Lowe, Kam Hall , Jon Osteen and Braeden Blevins need to stay hot with their bats. The Fort Chiswell Pioneers are (12-1) ,with their only loss at Grayson Co. The pitching of Dallas Beasley and Chance Davis has really carried the young squad of Pioneers. They more than like will finish first in Conference 46 play. Tanner Bailey, Davis , Sean Morgan and Aaron Crawford need to continue to help with their offensive prowess. They have five games remaining ,with three of those on the road. That brings me to Radford. The Bobcats( 10-5-1) are a young bunch. Radford has won six of their last seven games. They have four games to play and three of those or on enemy fields. They are in a battle in Conference 45 for seeding purposes and may need to win at least three of those four to finish second in conference play. They will finish either second or third and will need big games from Reese Williamson, Taylor Newcome , Ty Hamblin , Matt Rehak and Chance Morris. Well there’s still lots to play for, coming down the stretch the next two weeks of the regular season for the Cougars, Pioneers and Bobcats.

There are some teams that you may need to keep an eye on. Patrick Henry -Glade Spring is 16-1, Chilhowie 14-5, Tazewell 13-6 and have lost three straight after winning the Coppinger Classic , have two pitchers that can carry them into the playoffs. Auburn 12-1 also has a couple pitchers that’s been leading them. Of course you can’t forget Virginia High who are 12-4 and seem like they are always in the hunt. The next two weeks could and should be exciting as the teams battle for conference seeding.
