Cougars crush Cavs in season opener

The Pulaski Co. Cougars traveled to Lord Botetourt for their season opener and came away with a 63-48 victory. The Cougars were led by CC Grubb with 20 points as he stroked four three-pointers and his older brother Bryant has 12. Bryan Roberson came off the bench to tally nine.

Lord Botetourt was led by Max Burke with 12 and Noah Taylor with 10 points.

Pulaski Co. led all the way as they took a three point lead after the opening quarter 16-13. They then took a 30-24 intermission lead and put the game away in the third quarter out scoring the Cavaliers 12-5.Cougar head coach Andrew Hart said, We played hard but not smart at times. We played hard on defense and the mistakes we made tonight are , I believe correctable.”

The Cougars in the third quarter went on a 12-2 run to help secure the win. The Cougar junior varsity defeated the young Cavaliers 42-33. Dre Grubb has 11 points in the win. James Jackson had seven, Caleb Kirtner six, Noah O”Dell five and Gage Mannon four. The Cavaliers were led by Jason Foley’s 16 points. The Cougars will again hit the road as they will go to Bassett this Friday night. Junior varsity tips at 5:30 and the varsity around 7 pm.
