Cougars win third consecutive

Playing on back to back nights, the Pulaski Co. Cougars took care of business as they handled the Galax Maroon Tide 47-36. CC Grubb led the Cougars in scoring with 12 and senior Isaac Poe had 10. Braeden Blevins, playing his finest game of the year, had nine points, four rebounds and a couple assists.

Galax (1-5) got 12 points from their football star Charles Harris. Isaiah Brown and DeAngelo Ravenell both contributed 10 points apiece.

The Cougars (8-2) and Tide were tied at 12 after one quarter, but the Cougars took command in the second as they outscored the Maroon Tide 11-2. They would then out-point Galax 13-8 in the third to out the game away. Cougar head coach Andrew Hart said, “Our defense was very good tonight. I thought Braeden (Blevins) really gave us a spark off the bench. We missed some scoring opportunities but glad we won the game.”

Pulaski Co.junior varsity won their third in a row as they destroyed Galax 48-11. Kellen Dalton had nine points and Julian Black had five. The junior varsity team is now 4-6. Both the JV and varsity Cougars will be back in action Friday at Patrick Henry. Tip for the JV contest is 5:30 and varsity at 7pm.
