Pioneers second half comeback defeats Chilhowie

The Fort Chiswell Pioneers started slow but picked it up in the second half as they outscored the Warriors of Chilhowie 37-15 to defeat them 63-51.

With the win, the Pioneers (9-3) got some revenge from an earlier loss at Chilhowie. The Pioneer frontline did the damage as Jared Stephens scored 16, Colby Rider 15 and Tanner Bailey had 14 points .

Chilhowie (7-2) placed three in double figures, as T. Robertson and C, Kestner both had 12 points apiece and A. Delp tossed in 11. The Warriors came out smoking as they took a commanding 24-9 lead. They were still up 10 at halftime, 36-26.

Fort Chiswell frontline then took over the game as the trio of Stephens. Rider and Bailey controled the inside and the Warriors cooled of from outside. Head coach Derrick Jackson said, “I thought we were more physical than them, and we dominated the glass.” Coach then added, “We made some defensive adjustments to shut their threes down after halftime. Stephens, Rider and Bailey played real well for us tonight.”

The Pioneers totally dominated the second half outscoring the Warriors 37-15. The Pioneers will be back in action Friday night as they host the Narrows Green Wave.
