Football numbers down

Sports fans high school football practice has begun. Three area schools that RSN has visited it seems the number of kids out for football are down. Radford has 43 players to show up. That number includes junior varsity and varsity. At Fort Chiswell, who just named their new head coach late last week, had a turnout of 33 kids. That includes freshmen through seniors. The Pulaski Co. Cougars had 68-70 kids show up. Those 68-70 are junior varsity and varsity. Use to be Pulaski Co. would have that many or lot more just for varsity. It was commonplace for them to have 90- 100 kids are more. The Cougars will have their Touchdown Classic Saturday morning August 11. Bluefield, Magna Vista will be visiting Cougar Land.

Radford and Fort Chiswell numbers are down from last year. Neither one of those teams can afford to many injuries for the upcoming season. Both teams will be in action Friday, August 10. Fort Chiswell will travel to Emory & Henry to take on J I Burton. The time for that scrimmage will be more than likely at 6:00 or 7:00 pm. Radford will get their first taste of action as they will host Grayson Co. at 6:00 pm.
