Radford JV wins in last seconds

The Radford Bobcat junior varsity team started their football season with an exciting 20-18 win over the Geo. Wythe Maroons. The Cats scored on two punt returns and a fumble return.

With Radford up 20-12 with 27 seconds left in the game , the Maroons scored to make it 20-18. Then they went for a two-point conversion but the Cats stopped them to preserve the win.

Radford scored on a 70 yard punt return by Kamaree Tanner in the first quarter but found themselves tied at six going into halftime. Then in the middle of the third quarter Radford’s Simone Stanley fielded a punt and returned it for six. On the next series the Bobcat defense forced a fumble and the ball was scooped up by Spencer Perdue for a touchdown . Radford head coach Greg Ridpath said,” We did some things that were wrong but we won. Defensively we played well but offensively we have lots of room for improvement .” The difference in the game came down to the Bobcats place kicker-Mason Sproules ,kicking two point afters.
