Radford upsets Buffaloes

Radford Bobcats behind freshman pitcher Taylor Newcome upset the Floyd Co. Buffaloes 3-1. Newcome pitched a complete game giving up just five hits and struck out three. Radford scored two runs in the first and one in the second. Reese Williamson was 2 for 3 knocking in one and scored a run. Roman Bonet and Matt Rehak both had an RBI/ Trace Shepherd and Michael Wheeler scored a run each.

Floyd Co. 13-6 was led by Matt Bary who was 2 for 3 and knocked in one.

Radford improved to 6-9 on the season. Head coach Greg Ridpath said,” Finally we got to play again and finally we won. ” He then said,” Newcome pitched real well for us. This is our first game in what two weeks?” It was Radford’s first game since May 3 with all the rain. They are slated to play Giles tomorrow ( Tuesday) , and at Auburn Wednesday. Both games slated for 4:30.
